Remove Loose Abdominal Skin, Repair Separated Muscles, And Refine Your Waist With Tummy Tuck Surgery Planned Around Your Anatomy And Natural Shape.

Confidence Starts at the Core
Pregnancy, major weight loss, and aging can cause loose skin, stubborn fat, and stretched abdominal muscles that exercise alone can’t fix. At Face N Body Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery in Upland, board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Edward Park and Dr. Alex Cheah consider the entire abdomen, including skin, muscle separation, remaining fat, waist shape, and scar placement. Their Contoured Abdominoplasty approach aims to create a smoother, firmer abdomen with a plan tailored to each patient.
If you’re unsure whether your main concern is skin, fat, or weak abdominal support, a consultation can help you understand what a tummy tuck can realistically improve.

Restore Your Shape, Your Way
A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a body contouring procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the abdominal area and tightens stretched connective tissue when needed. When pregnancy or weight changes have caused rectus diastasis, the procedure can bring the separated abdominal muscles back into a firmer position. The remaining skin is redraped, and a full tummy tuck typically includes repositioning the belly button.
Tummy tuck surgery isn’t a weight-loss procedure. It works best when you’re already at or near a stable weight and want to address changes that won’t improve through diet and exercise alone.

Target More Than Just Skin
A tummy tuck may improve:
Where Strength Meets Shape
Tummy tuck surgery can address several parts of the stomach area in one procedure. Benefits may include:
A tummy tuck leaves a permanent scar. Deciding on surgery means weighing the scar against how much loose skin and muscle laxity you want to correct.

Contoured Abdominoplasty is Face N Body’s way of performing tummy tuck surgery, not a different procedure. Dr. Park and Dr. Cheah look at more than just skin removal. They also consider muscle separation, remaining fat, waist definition, skin tension, belly-button position, and the overall shape. Liposuction can be added if extra fat around the abdomen or waist affects your shape. The goal is to create a smooth look across your midsection and adjust the procedure to your needs.
A Different Approach to Recovery
Drains are sometimes placed after abdominoplasty to remove fluid that collects during healing. Face N Body may offer an optional drainless tummy tuck when the surgical technique and patient’s anatomy make that approach appropriate. A drainless procedure means you won’t have to manage drainage tubes during recovery, but there can still be swelling and downtime. If drains are safer or more suitable for your surgery, they may still be used.
Face N Body’s Contoured Abdominoplasty approach can include long-lasting pain medication to help with discomfort during early recovery. Your surgeon will go over the pain-control plan for your surgery.

Yes. Liposuction removes fat from specific areas, while a tummy tuck removes loose skin and tightens the abdominal wall. Doing both together, sometimes called lipoabdominoplasty, can help shape the waist and surrounding area when you have both extra skin and fat. Liposuction alone can’t repair separated abdominal muscles or remove significant loose skin.
A full tummy tuck treats more extensive changes across the abdomen and usually includes broader skin removal, muscle repair when needed, and repositioning of the belly button.
A mini tummy tuck targets smaller issues below the belly button. If loose skin goes farther around the sides, an extended tummy tuck might be better. The best option depends on where your extra skin and muscle laxity are.

Your Body, Your Timing
Good candidates usually have loose abdominal skin, muscle separation, or a lasting abdominal bulge, are in good health, and keep a stable weight. Smoking and nicotine can affect blood flow and healing, so it’s important to follow your surgeon’s instructions. Future pregnancies or major weight gain can stretch the abdominal tissues again.
During your consultation, you can find out if a full tummy tuck, mini tummy tuck, liposuction, or a combination is right for you. You can also talk about scar placement, muscle repair, the drainless option, recovery, and what results to expect before making a decision.
Tummy tuck surgery is done under general anesthesia at Face N Body’s private, AAAHC-accredited surgery center. The surgeon makes a low horizontal incision to remove extra skin and repair the abdominal wall. Liposuction can be added for contouring, and in a full tummy tuck, the belly button is usually moved to a new spot in the tightened skin.
After the incision is closed, you’ll wear a compression garment. Drains may or may not be used, depending on your surgical plan. Most patients go home the same day with clear recovery instructions.
During the first part of recovery, it’s common to feel sore, swollen, tight, and have trouble standing up straight. Gentle walking is encouraged early to help blood flow and lower the risk of blood clots, but lifting and hard exercise should be avoided. You’ll wear a compression garment and get instructions for caring for your incision, taking medications, moving safely, and follow-up visits.
Most patients take about 10 to 14 days off work, depending on how physical their job is. Recovery continues over the next few weeks as you slowly return to normal activities.

You’ll notice less excess skin and a new abdominal shape early on, but swelling can hide some of the final results. Your abdomen will continue to settle over the next three to six months as swelling improves and the tissues heal. Keeping your weight stable helps maintain your results, but future pregnancy or major weight changes can stretch the tissues again.
What Will My Tummy Tuck Scar Look Like?
A full tummy tuck leaves a permanent horizontal scar across the lower abdomen and usually a scar around the belly button. The incision is placed low when possible, so it can often be hidden by underwear or swimwear. Scars will soften and fade over time, but they won’t go away completely.

Possible complications include bleeding, infection, seroma or fluid accumulation, delayed wound healing, changes in sensation, unfavorable scarring, contour irregularities, skin loss, persistent pain, blood clots, pulmonary embolism, anesthesia complications, and revision surgery. Your medical history and surgical plan affect your individual risk.
Face N Body Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery brings together the experience and perspective of board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Edward Park and Dr. Alex Cheah. Dr. Park has more than 20 years of surgical experience and completed his plastic and reconstructive surgery training at Stanford. Dr. Cheah is double board-certified in plastic surgery and general surgery and completed his plastic surgery training at UT Southwestern.
Both surgeons approach body contouring with an emphasis on proportion, thoughtful planning, and natural-looking results. A tummy tuck isn’t planned around removing the greatest amount of skin possible. The goal is to understand what’s changing the shape of your abdomen, how much correction makes sense for your body, and how the result will fit with the rest of your proportions.
Surgery is performed in Face N Body’s private, AAAHC-accredited surgery center in Upland, supported by an experienced surgical team that includes a board-certified anesthesiologist with more than 30 years of outpatient experience. From your first consultation through postoperative follow-up, your care stays coordinated within the same practice.
Loose skin, extra fat, and muscle separation can look similar, but each is treated differently. During your consultation, Dr. Park or Dr. Cheah will examine your abdomen, explain which tummy tuck fits your needs, and talk about whether liposuction or a drainless approach is right for you. You’ll be able to review your likely scar, recovery time, expected results, risks, and the cost of your surgical plan before deciding if surgery is right for you.
Yes. Abdominoplasty is the medical term for tummy tuck surgery.
It’s a tummy tuck performed with a technique that may eliminate the need for external surgical drains. Not every patient is a candidate.
Possibly. Some patients may qualify for a drainless approach, while others benefit from temporary drains to remove fluid during healing.
Yes. Tummy tuck surgery can tighten the abdominal wall when the muscles and supporting tissue have separated or stretched.
No. Liposuction removes fat. A tummy tuck removes loose skin and can repair the abdominal wall. They may be combined.
A tummy tuck is a body contouring procedure, not weight-loss surgery. Some skin and fat are removed, but significant weight loss is not the goal.
Many patients take about 10 to 14 days off work. You may need more time if your job involves lifting, prolonged standing, or other physical activity.
Yes, but pregnancy can stretch the skin and abdominal muscles again, so surgery is generally best planned after future pregnancies are complete.
Cost depends on the extent of surgery, whether liposuction or another technique is included, and anesthesia and facility needs. Face N Body can provide an individualized estimate after your surgical plan is established.
